This started as a bot for my own friends.
GO BLOX was a Roblox community, and I wanted something in the Discord that would greet new members and keep the chat from going quiet. In August last year I wrote it. Eight files, 540 lines. It logged into Discord as a person instead of as an application, because that was the first way I found to make it work. Discord bans accounts for that. I did not know yet.
In October I split it in two and wrote the proper version, the one that logs in the way Discord actually wants. That was the point where it stopped being a script I ran for my friends and started being software.
Then people I do not know started adding it. Not many at first. A server name would show up in the panel that I had never seen before, and nobody had told me about it. They just found it and installed it.
This morning the panel says eleven of those. 511 members reached. 56 million XP awarded. One bot running out of one, nothing stopped.
The XP is the number I like most, because of what it actually is. Points come from chatting, from sitting in voice, from turning a camera on, from sharing a screen. So 56 million is not really my number. It is hours and hours of people hanging out with each other, with my bot sitting in the corner keeping count.
I never advertised it anywhere. Eleven groups of people found it, looked at what permissions it was asking for, and installed it anyway. That part still surprises me.
